Once a scheme is closed to future accrual, it changes completely. The most important aspect is that focus changes from the longer term ongoing nature to managing a closed and reducing membership, liability and asset base. As well as managing the scheme efficiently whilst closed, there also needs to be a plan for eventual decommissioning.
